Our Purpose

The purposes and objectives of TPA are as follows:

  1. To protect, promote and advance generally the rights, interests and welfare of tenants in the Christchurch region.
  2. To advise, assist and support tenants generally in their dealings and disputes with landlords and other authorities in the Christchurch region.
  3. To seek redress of wrongs from which all or any tenants suffer, or make representation by way of deputation's, or otherwise bring to the attention of the New Zealand government, or of any other constituted authority, such matters as in the opinion of the Association or its Committee require attention or alteration.
  4. To do all things as may, from time to time, appear necessary or desirable to the Committee to give effect to and to attain the objectives of the Association.
  5. To seek to coordinate the activities of the Association with other organisations as the Committee thinks fit.
  6. To uphold the articles of Te Tiriti 0 Waitangi, as per the document of 6th February 1840 (Maori Text).
