Before you start

The most important thing about looking for somewhere to live is knowing what kind of home you want for yourself and the people you share it with. When you are a tenant it is not always possible to afford the place you would really like, and you are affected by decisions that the landlord makes.

Before you start looking for a home take the time to work out what you want and what you need.

What I need...

  • In the children’s school zone
  • A garage for my car so my insurance policy is valid
  • A periodic tenancy
  • Permission to have a dog

Etc..

What I want...

  • A spare room for visitors
  • Room to plant a garden
  • A log fire
  • Lots of storage space
  • A modern kitchen
  • To deal directly with the owner and not a property manager

Etc…
